Google has finally revealed the final name (the dessert name) of the latest version of its mobile operating system as Android Nougat. The revelation is coming after weeks of speculation and a public call to Droid users get involved in the naming process, although the company still has the final say.

Now a yearly norm, the Android Nougat Statue was unveiled today outside the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California. While we don’t know yet if the new mobile OS will be version no 6.1 or 7.0 but we do know it succeeds Android Marshmallow and the next Nexus phones will be based on it.
Before the announcement, the public have been yearning for Nutella and most of the Indian populace going for Neyappam, a sweet-rice based dessert or snack of Indian origin. According to the dictionary.com, Nougat is a chewy or brittle candy containing almonds or other nuts and sometimes fruit.
Some of the key new features of Android Nougat (Android N) include: redesigned notification panel, Direct reply, multi-window mode support, seamless Android updates, enhanced Doze mode, new settings menu, enhancements for VR (Daydream) and others.

If Google had gone for Nutella; they will have to deal with copyright/trademark issue just like Kitkat.
