LG has officially confirmed its next flagship – the LG V20, will be the first Android 7.0 smartphone. The successor to the LG V10 with secondary display screen and dual front cameras, will offer more in terms of multimedia features. The device will begin shipping by the third quarter of 2016 (Q3 2016).
The device will take advantage of the best features of Android Nougat including Vulkan-supported graphics for more immersive gaming while also delivering better battery performance with Doze.
Commenting on the launch, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company, Juno Cho said; “We are excited to offer the first phone in the world to feature the new Nougat OS, right out of the box. The LG V20 upgrades and extends its predecessor’s cutting-edge multimedia features a step further, providing distinctive mobile experience and sets a new standard for premium phones for consumers.”
LG and Google have a rich history of collaborations, ranging from mobile devices to wearables. The South Korean company has three Google Nexus devices to their name – the Nexus 4 (2012), Nexus 5 (2013) and Nexus 5X (2015).
On the other hand, LG has also confirmed that the LG V20 will also be the first smartphone to feature the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) capabilities. The company worked closely with ESS Technology, bringing a superior audio experience to mobile for the very first time.
The Quad DAC is quite ahead of the 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC used in the LG V10, and gives users the feeling they are make users feel they are carrying around a professional home-audio system on their smartphone.
