Microsoft’s October 2015 Event focuses on upcoming Windows 10 Devices
Microsoft has sent out invites for a media briefing event on October 6th to be held in New York City by 10.00am EDT. The invite for the Microsoft October 2015 Event reads – ‘We have exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices’, so should we be excited?.
With the Windows 10 OS already available on Desktop and Tablets, Windows 10 Mobile OS is yet to make its debut on smartphone and it’s been over two years since a flagship running Windows Phone was announced.
Talking at the upcoming Windows 10 Devices, Microsoft is expected to announce the Surface Pro 4, the successor to the Microsoft Band – the Band 2 and new flagship Lumia smartphones – Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
Starting with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the 2-in-1 is expected to be more powerful, thinner and fanless thanks to the 6th gen Intel Skylake processors ticking under the hood. Other tipped features includes upgraded battery life and the inclusion of Windows Hello based bimetric login.
Going by the rumour mill, the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are the next flagships from the Lumia Brand; the former sports a 5.2-inch display, powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon processor and 3000mAh battery and the latter has a 5.7-inch display, powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and backed by a 3300mAh battery.
Both devices have 3GB of RAM, 32GB native storage, QHD OLED display, 5MP front camera, 20MP rear facing camera, microSD card slot, Iris scanner for biometric authentication, USB Type-C and Qi Wireless Charging.
It is unlikely all the devices are available at once for sale, sources have it the Band 2 and new Lumias would be out in time for the holidays and the Surface Pro 4 will arrive in November.
The Microsoft October 2015 Event for the new Windows 10 devices will also be streamed live online and on Xbox via www.microsoft.com/october2015event/
