Leading telecoms operator in Myanmar, the Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) or simply MPT Myanmar has announced the first set of smartphones under its own name brand. The MPT M50 and MPT M40 are two new entry-level smartphones running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
Priced at 99,000 Myanmar Kyat (US$ 81), the MPT M50 sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD LCD display with 2.5D curved glass design and is backed by a 2000mAh Lithium-ion battery. On the inside, proceedings is handled a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Spreadtrum SC7731 processor with 1GB of RAM.
The device is equipped with 8GB internal expandable storage space, 8MP main camera, front 5MP selfie camera, Dual SIM slots (Micro + Nano) and supports both 2G and 3G networks but no 4G LTE. The MPT M40 on the other hand has a smaller 4-inch display with WVGA screen resolution and backed by a 1500mAh battery.
It used the same processor as the MPT M50 and packs along 512MB of RAM and 4GB built-in expandable storage space. Others include – 3MP main camera, 2MP front camera, Dual SIM (Mini + Micro) slots and a price tag of 32,000 Myanmar Kyat (US$ 26).
The MPT M50 and M40 will arrive in Black and White colours; and available for purchase at MPT branded stores, Bestone outlets and other participating mobile shops with a special data quota promotion.
