HMD Global has announced the launch of the Nokia 6 – the first proper Nokia branded Android smartphone, in a press release. The premium looking smartphone is available exclusively in China, which is expected to have up to 593 million users in 2017 and likely the upgraded variant of the Nokia D1C.
Sporting an aluminium metal unibody design, the Nokia 6 has a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) FHD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. The Android 7.0 Nougat powered device relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor paired along with Adreno 505 GPU and 4GB of RAM.
Imaging is handled by a rear facing 16MP camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture and PDAF laser auto focusing. The front camera in charge of selfies and video chats, is a 8MP snapper also with a f/2.0 aperture. The device packs 64GB built-in storage space, Dolby ATMOS support, a fingerprint sensor (home button) and dual amplifiers deliver a 6dB louder sound.
The Nokia 6 is price at CNY 1699 (US$ 245) and will go on sale exclusively through JD.com in China starting Early 2017. The release confirms the company will release more smartphones in Q1 2017, we just have to wait until the MWC 2017 next month.
