At its unpacked event earlier today in New York, Samsung officially announced its new flagships – the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Both devices come with earphones tuned by AKG by Harman ($99) and are available on pre-order starting March 30th. Sales are expected to commence on April 21st.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD+ Super AMOLED screen while the Samsung Galaxy S8+ dons a bigger 6.2-inch screen with the same panel. Both devices have curved edge-to-edge bezel-less displays called Infinite Display and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection (front and rear).

They are available in two processor variants – one powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and other by a Samsung Exynos 8895 chipset. RAM and built-in storage are 4GB and 64GB respectively, however, some select markets (possibly including China) will get the 6GB/128GB version.
Photography on the S8/S8+ is handled by a rear 12MP Dual Pixel camera with OIS, LED flash and f/1.7 aperture, paired with a front 8MP selfie camera with face detection AF, f/1.7 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens. Both come with Iris Sensor, Fingerprint Sensor and Heart Rate Monitor.
The familiar physical home button on mid- to high-end Galaxy smartphones has been replaced with software buttons and a dedicated button for Bixby, Samsung’s new Al-powered digital assistant has been added. The smartphones boot Android 7.0 Nougat OS with Samsung’s latest TouchWIZ UI.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is priced at $750 and equipped with a 3000mAh battery with fast Charging (wired & wireless) while the Galaxy S8+ costs $850 and depends on a 3500mAh battery with the same charging options. Black, Orchid Gray, Silver, Blue, and Maple Gold are the available colour options.
