SK Telecom’s TCL-Made Sol Prime Now On Pre-Order
South Korea’s largest wireless carrier – SK Telecom, has a new smartphone developed under its own brand. The high-end mid-range smartphone, dubbed the Sol Prime is manufactured by TCL (Alcatel’s parent company) and based on the Alcatel IDOL 4S, same model used for the Blackberry DTEK60.
Sporting a metal body frame, the Sol Prime has a 5.5-inch display with a screen resolution of 2540 x 1440 pixels (WQHD or 2K) and backed by an ample 3000mAh battery. It is equipped with a rear placed fingerprint sensor, boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and supports 4G LTE networks.
Under the hood, the device relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (MSM8976) 64-bit processor with Adreno 510 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 16MP camera with LED flash and a front 8MP camera with Flash.
Connectivity options on the Sol Prime includes Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Priced at 433,400 Korean Won (USD 359), reservations for the device will start today (January 2nd) and start selling January 6th, 2017.
