Rumour: Sony Corp. Working on Playstation 4.5 (or 4 NEO)
Sony Corp. is believed to be currently working on an upgraded PlayStation 4 device which has been given the name – PlayStation 4.5 by ardent fans. Multiple sources have confirmed that Sony is working on an upgraded PS4 which is internally codenamed as NEO. The new gaming console is ‘separate and distinct’ from the PlayStation VR scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2016.
According to Wall Street Journal (WSJ),the era of waiting six or more years for video gaming consoles is coming to an end. Having commanded sales of over 36 million units, the PlayStation 4 will be having a companion, not a successor, which will handle higher-end gaming experiences including virtual reality. It will be equipped with upgraded performance thanks to ‘higher graphics and power’ but will be fully backward compatible with the current PS4 and same games will work on both consoles although the PS4.5 expected to offer better graphics.
The Difference between gaming and gambling might seem obvious to some and negligible to others but the definition depends largely on who is using them. For some gaming means pokies or black jack while others may limit the definition to pastimes such as video games. Keep in mind that these are just terms and whether you game or gamble, most importantly, enjoy it.
Developers will reportedly have to release games in two modes – the Base mode and NEO mode. The Base mode will be for those who are contented with the original PS4 while the NEO mode will be for the PS4.5. How much impact will the launch of the PlayStation 4.5 have on the theXbox One?A lot.Since the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One, launching the PS4.5 anytime soon could spell doom for Microsoft’s gaming console. There are claims that the company isn’t interested in successive console releases but this could force a rethink.
Nintendo is another player expected to launch a new console around the same time as the PS 4.5 – the Tokyo Game Show (starting September 15th). The Nintendo NX is not be a direct successor to the Wii U or 3DS consoles but is being engineered to have a bigger impact than them.
At the moment, there is no specific date or timing for the announcement of the but sources point out that the Playstation 4.5 (or 4 Neo) could launch ahead of the Playstation VR, with the month before or during October speculated. It could also possibly go official during this year’s edition of the Tokyo Games Show alongside the Nintendo NX in September. In terms of pricing, the Playstation 4.5 (PS4.5/PS4/PS4 NEO) is expected to come higher than the current price tag of the PlayStation4.
