Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, TAG Heuer has announced its second generation connected smartwatch – the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45. The new timepiece takes a modular approach as the straps, lugs, module, buckle, the watch itself (from the smartwatch module to traditional watch) and others can be swapped out to suit personal preference or latest technology.
Developed in partnership with top partners – Google and Intel, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 carries the prestigious ‘Swiss-Made’ label as it was designed, developed & assembled in TAG Heuer Manufacture, La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. The watch is available in a wealth of colour combinations, and options (11 basic design and 45 additional options on special order).
The Connected 45 is powered by Intel’s Atom Z34XX processor and has smartwatch features such as Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, and waterproof (up to 50 metres). It arrives with all the features of Android Wear 2.0 such as Google Assistant, 30 Watch dials and handles mobile payments on its own (Android Pay support).
The 45mm watch packs a 1.39″ AMOLED display with crystal sapphire glass cover, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, ambient light sensor and the 410mAh battery should provide between 24 – 30 hours of battery life on a single charge. It is also compatible with smartphones running iOS 9+ and Android 4.3+.
Despite the presence of Google Assistant, TAG Heuer and Intel have both teamed up to bring another Al software with distinct features which will arrive at at later date via OTA. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is available from the company’s website starting at a base price of $1,650.
PS: TAG Heuer also confirmed that Android Wear 2.0 update will be available for the original Connected by the end of March and Hublot will soon be joining the connected family.
