So finally I have broken the duck on talking about Tecno phone. On a personal note, I have nothing against the company but several user reviews, complaints and hands-on has really put me off. Compared to Infinix and Innjoo which releases scheduled and properly planned devices, Tecno has released almost a new smartphone every month.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen the Tecno H3, L7 and R5 and now Tecno has announced the Tecno Phantom Z Mini (Tecno A7 Mini) on its official Twitter handle. The company has been guilty of releasing similar smartphones under different names but without any unique selling point.
Tecno Phantom Z Mini Specifications
Back to the Phantom Z Mini, looking at the specs it is not a so mini smartphone I must tell you. The word ‘Mini’ on smartphones nowadays has gone overboard – the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and the HTC One Mini 2 are clear examples.
Expect a 5-inch 720 x 1280 pixels resolution Super AMOLED display, powered by an octa-core processor (unspecified chipset) with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with no word on expandable storage.
There is a front facing 8MP camera for selfies and a rear facing 13MP camera; both camera have LED flash. The Phantom Z Mini is expected to be Dual SIM enabled, supports 3G connectivity and pack the normal Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB OTG and GPS connectivity options.
Finally the Tecno Phantom Z Mini measures 145 x 70 x 6.6mm in dimensions, runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and a 2420mAh battery keeps the device long enough to last some hours.
Tecno Phantom Z Mini Pricing and Availability
For this top of the range specs and a flagship display for a mini device it won’t come cheap if I may suggest. The pricing details has not been confirmed but it is expected to go on sale in Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda where they have a huge user base.
On a final note, once in a while we would carefully bring selected Tecno phone which manage to catch the eye. You can get the original variant which is the Phantom Z on Konga for ₦53,000.
