Windows 10 Mobile OS will debut in November and these Lumia Smartphones are Eligible
Microsoft has confirmed the Windows 10 Mobile OS will debut by November this year. This is in line with previous reports that the Mobile version will debut later than the PC and Tablets versions. The company rolled out the Windows 10 OS upgrade for PCs and tablets on Wednesday (July 29th).
Microsoft Executive in South Africa – Anthony Doherty on the launch of the Windows 10 OS in South Africa said;
“Obviously, there’s some duplication in engineering, sales and marketing, but it doesn’t change our strategy around mobility. Windows 10 Mobile is coming and it’s coming strong.
Our core platform is Windows 10. It’s mobile in nature, not just the device, but the experience people will have. So there’s a big emphasis on the… mobile phone side of it. But there is more thunder on that coming later in the year. Windows 10 Mobile OS isn’t launching with the desktop version of Windows 10 with a possible November timeframe“.
In another development, the following Microsoft Lumia smartphones have all been confirmed to be in the first set of smartphones to get the Windows 10 Mobile OS update.
• Microsoft Lumia 430
• Microsoft Lumia 435
• Microsoft Lumia 532
• Microsoft Lumia 535
• Microsoft Lumia 540
• Microsoft Lumia 640
• Microsoft Lumia 640 XL
• Nokia Lumia 735
• Nokia Lumia 830
• Nokia Lumia 930
All phones running Windows Phone 8.1 OS with Denim Update would get the update with no timeframe attached. Missing from the list is the Nokia Lumia 1520 and other Lumia smartphones with less than One GB of RAM such as the Lumia 630, Lumia 635 and Lumia 520.
