Earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, Alexa was being integrated into everything from smart connected devices to home appliances. Now, Amazon has partnered with Motorola (Lenovo) to bring the virtual digital assistant to its smartphones.
Motorola and Amazon has officially confirmed that later this year, customers will be able to purchase an Amazon Alexa Moto Mod for the Moto Z and other smartphones, after announcing the project live at Mobile World Congress 2017.
The official confirmation came in when Amazon’s Jon Kirk made a brief appearance on stage during Motorola ’s press conference and confirmed the company’s collaboration with Motorola. He showed a short concept video which featured a Moto smartphone connected to a speaker mod made by Harman Kardon that also had Amazon Alexa integrated.
With our Amazon Alexa Moto Mod, you can easily perform everyday tasks while on the go, like controlling your smart home, checking the news, requesting a ride from services like Uber, and more — using just your voice. For example, when you start your commute home, you can ask Alexa to adjust your home’s temperature so it’s comfortable when you get there. Or, you can add milk to your shopping list without ever picking up a pen.
Motorola also confirmed that later this year, it will integrate Alexa into its smartphones to enable users to access the digital personal assistant without having to even unlock their phone first.
