Irrespective of the fact that the full specifications of the 10-core Mediatek Helio X30 processor had been announced last year alongside the Helio P25, Imagination Technologies has re-announced the high-end mobile processor which features the company’s PowerVR Series7XT Plus GPU.
The PowerVR GT7400 Plus GPU used delivers 2.4x performance boost and up to 60% increase in power saving when compared to previous generations. It also offers advanced HD graphics and superior performance for vision and computational photography-based applications.
Based on TSMC’s 10nm process, the Mediatek Helio X30 offers both improvement in power saving and performance. Like the Helio X20 and X25 SoC, the X30 features a 10-core design over three clusters: 2x Cortex-A73 cores at 2.5GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 cores at 2.2GHz and 4x Cortex-A35 cores at 1.9GHz.
Other features include – Corepilot 4.0, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 1866MHz, UFS 2.1 storage, 4G LTE-A WorldMode modem + 3x Carrier Aggregation and 14-bit image signal processors (ISP) that can support Dual 16MP cameras.
Compared to Core Pilot 3.0; the Mediatek Core Pilot 4.0 deliver up to 25-percent more power savings. It also increases power efficiency, makes phones less prone to overheat, and increase the speed for everything from simple browsing to the most intense mobile gaming.
The Mediatek Helio X30 is currently being mass produced and expected to make its debuts in some smartphones launching by Q2 2017. The company expects limited number of devices to use the Helio X30 this year, due to the low yield rate for TSMC’s 10nm process delaying availability.
