12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro Goes official with Apple Pencil, A9X Chipset and 10 hours battery life

At an ongoing event, Apple has officially announced the Apple iPad Pro – the biggest ever iPad ever. The 12.9-inch sized iPad which has been in the news for almost a year now has finally become official.

Powered by the 3rd Generation 64-bit Apple A9X chipset which is said to be 1.8x better overall performance and twice the GPU processing power of the Apple A8X, the Apple iPad Pro sports a 12.9-inch display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels and a pixel density of 264ppi same as the iPad Air 2

The iPad Pro has a 8MP iSight camera, measures 6.9mm in thickness, weighs 1.54lbs (almost 700 grams), four speaker audio and promises 10 hours of battery life. It runs iOS 9 out-of-the-box and supports split-screen view and picture-in-picture. Touch ID is also on-board. 

The Apple iPad Pro comes with an exclusive stylus pen called Apple Pencil; has an embedded lightning connector that allows it connect to the iPad Pro and also charge it. The Pencil would be able to perform a wide range of functions just like Samsung’s S Pen which includes writing, drawing and others on the slate. It costs $99 and works with the Microsoft Office.

Another accessory for the iPad Pro is the Smart Keyboard which lets the device be used as a laptop like most hybrid around especially Microsoft Surface Tablets (Surface Type Cover). The Smart Keyboard costs $169 and connects magnetically to the slate.

In terms of pricing, the Apple iPad Pro costs $799 for the 32GB model (Wi-Fi only) and $949 for the 128GB model (Wi-Fi only); the only LTE model with 128GB costs $1079.
