2nd Gen Lava Pixel V1 Android One smartphone goes Official

Google and Lava Mobiles has collaborated to announce the first 2nd generation Android One smartphone – the Lava Pixel V1. The Android One initiative has gotten better as the Pixel V1 brings a better hardware compared to its predecessors but will stay up to date with the latest Android OS and very affordable.

The Lava Pixel V1 Android One smartphone turns out to be same as the information earlier revealed about the device and more has been added with the official announcement. It sports a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels HD IPS display with Asahi DragonTrail Protection, screen-to-body ration of 76.3% and oleophobic coating against sticky fingers and prints. It also has on-screen buttons instead of capacitive touch buttons.

The device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 2Gb of RAM. Internal storage stands at 32GB (25GB space user available) and there is a microSD slot for storage expansion up to 32GB more.

Next is the camera segment which has a front facing 5MP f/2.4  camera which can be interpolated to take 8MP photos and a rear facing 8MP f/2.0 camera which can be interpolated to take 13MP photos. Connectivity options on the Lava Pixel V1 includes – 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB, USB 2.0, USB OTG, GPS/AGPS but no 4G LTE connectivity.

The Lava Pixel V1 runs stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and would be getting updates directly from Google but according to Lava’s schedule. It measures 152.08 x 76.31 x 8.5mm in dimensions, weighs 135 grams, supports Dual SIM slots and is backed by a 2650mAh battery.

Flipkart would be the first point of sale for the Lava Pixel V1 starting today (July 27th), however other retail outlets and several outlets would be selling the device in coming weeks. It costs Rs 11,350 ($177) and would be available in Silver and Gold colour options.
