There have be reports that Sony is looking to launch the Compact version of the Sony Xperia Z2. After making the trip with the code name Altair to the FCC, Sony has announced Xperia A2 SO-04F for Japanese carrier NTT-Docomo.
The Sony Xperia A2 is speculated to be the japanese version of the Xperia Z2 Compact internationally and it has a slightly upgraded specs to the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.
The Xperia A2 features a 4.3-inch Triluminos display with HD (720×1280 pixel) resolution based on Sony’s X-Reality mobile engine. Powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB with micro SD card support. On the rear side is the 20.7MP camera and 2.2MP front camera for video calls. Both the front and the rear camera can shoot full-HD videos.
In terms of connectivity, the device flaunts 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, A-GPS & USB connectivity. Like other flagship Sony phones, the Xperia A2 is dust and water proof. The device weighs 138g, measures 128mm x 65mm x 9.7mm and would run on the Android 4.4 kitkat, powerd by 2300mAh battery, and available in 4 colours – Orange, Lavender, Grey Black and White colours.
The Sony Xperia A2 is very much similar to the existing Sony Xperia Z1 compact in terms of battery capacity, display size, screen resolution; the slight difference is that the former is 0.2mm thicker than the latter.
Last week, the Japanese smartphone maker launched the Xperia ZLC (SOL25) in its homeland country. The Xperia ZLC features a 5-inch full-HD LCD screen, 2.3GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon 801quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage, 20.7MP rear camera and 3000mAh battery.
The Xperia A2 is expected to launch Mid-June though the pricing and availability in other markets details are not disclosed; it is expected to launch globally as the Xperia Z2 compact soon.
