Apple today has announced one of the most talked about upcoming smartphone, the iPhone 6 at the Flint Center, Cupertino, Carlifornia . The Apple iPhone 6 is based on the iPod touch’s look, has a 4.7-inch screen and the body is made of anodized aluminium, rounded edges and a stainless steel Apple Logo. The iphone 6 measures 6.9mm in thickness, making it the thinnest device ever made by the company.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Announced
The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch (750 x 1334 pixels) LCD ‘Retina HD’ screen protected by “Ion-strengthened glass” and amounting to a pixel density of 348ppi. Due to its new resolution applications would only work thanks to the ‘desktop-class scaler’ until developers update their apps to support the new resolution.
The iPhone 6 is powered by Apple’s A8 Chipset which has a 25% faster processing power and 50% faster graphics. The device has a 8MP iSight camera with 1.5µ pixels, phase detection autofocus, Dual LEd flash and a f/2.2 aperture. The camera has a video resolution of 1080p Full HD and shoots slo-mo at 120fps and 240fps.
Asides GSM calling, the device supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and WiFi Calling. Connectivity options include – Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, LTE Cat.4 (150Mbps downlink) and Apple’s new Apple Pay service for wireless payments.
The battery life is tipped to provide 14 hours of talktime, but about 10 hours when browsing over 3G or LTE and 11 hours of Video playback time. The iPhone 6 runs on iOS 8 which offers an improvement on the iOS 7 with Apple’s new Healthkit service and improved third party apps integration.
The 16GB iPhone 6 would be available on september 19th (pre-orders starting September 12th) starting $199 on a two-year contract; 64GB version for $299 and 128GB version for $399. The iPhone 6 would be available in over 115 countries including Nigeria, South Africa and Africa before the end of the year in Gold, Silver and Space Grey colour options.
