At the Computex 2015, ASUS has added two new models to the ZenFone 2 series – the 6-inch display sized Asus ZenFone 2 with the model number – ZE600KL and the 5.5-inch Sized Asus ZenFone 2 with the model number – ZE550KL.
2015 is almost going to an end and yet, ASUS has not simplified the way it names and release it devices. Earlier this year, ASUS announced the ZenFone 2 and the ZenFone Zoom which are both powered by Intel processor.
The ASUS Zenfone 2 already has about four models all running the same processor, with different RAM (ranging from 2GB to 4GB), different screen size (5.5-inch and 5-inch) and different model numbers. ASUS is no longer looking to rely on Intel for processor for its smartphone as the Taiwanese company has confirmed it is switching to Qualcomm.
Hence, the introduction of new ZenFone models with Qualcomm processor – the ZenFone 2 ZE600KL would be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and the ZenFone 2 ZE550KL would be powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC.
Moving to the full specs – the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE600KL sports a 6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8936 615 processor with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The main camera is a 13MP snapper with Laser Auto-Focus and there is a front 5MP camera for selfies. It is expected to come in Dual or Single SIM option; connectivity options includes – Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and 4G LTE.
The Asus ZenFone 2 ZE600KL runs Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Zen UI and is backed by a 3000mAh battery. It is tipped to go on sale for a price tag around $399; it is also expected in Gold, Silver and Red colour options.
The Other is the similar phablet sized Asus ZenFone 2 ZE550KL; it shares almost the same specification with the above device. It rocks a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8916 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage.
It uses the same connectivity options as the above, has the same camera specs, backed by the same 3000mAh battery and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with ZenUI ontop. It would be available in Red, Black and White colour options; there is no word on availability and pricing.
