Getac has announced the the Getac T800-Ex, a Getac T800 tablet with ATEX certification. It is recommended for use in oil and gas companies, construction sites and companies, enterprises, outdoor and filed usage and more.
According to Getac, the Getac T800-Ex is IP65 certified for Water and Dust Proof; it is MIL-STD 810G certified to withstand shock, vibration, can fall from a height of 1.8 meters without damaging and can operate in extreme temperature conditions between -21 to +50 degrees Celsius.
The height of the ruggedity is it can work in areas which are prone to explosion and will survive thanks to ATEX Zone 2/22 Certification. Moving to the specs, it features a 8.1-inch TFT LCD HD (1280 x 800 pixels) with Getac sunlight readable technology and 600nits LumiBond touchscreen display.
The Getac T800-Ex is powered by the latest quad-core Intel Pentium N3530 processor clocked at 2.16GHz (burst up to 2.58GHz) paired with Intel HD graphics, 4GB DDR3L RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB Solid State drive. The slate runs either Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 Professional.
There is a rear facing 8MP AutoFocus camera, HD Webcam, 1D/2D Imager Barcode reader, 1 x USB 3.0 and 1 x Micro HDMI port. Other connectivity suite includes – Bluetooth and Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac while optional GPS and LTE modules can be added for location sharing and 4G LTE connectivity.
A total of 6 physical buttons can be found on the Getac T800-Ex – the Power, Volume UP, Volume DOWN, Barcode Reader Trigger/Camera Capture, Function Key and Windows.
The tablet measures 24mm thick (full dimensions – 227 x 151 x 24 mm), weighs 915 grams, and has a 4200mAh which provides around 8 hours of usage but can be doubled up to 16 hours with an optional SnapBack added 2nd expanded battery.
There is no word on pricing and availability information yet but expect the Getac T800-Ex to cost $1000 northwards.
