Gionee Elife E8 with 6″ QHD display, fingerprint sensor and 24MP rear camera announced

Along with the Gionee Marathon M5, Gionee announced the flagship Gionee Elife E8. The phablet-sized device ticks all the dots in terms of flagship specs and could also be said to be a camera centric device.

Despite its flagship specs, the camera is the major talking point of the device. The rear camera is a 24MP snapper which includes a software that allows it take up to 100MP resolution photos. The Elife E8 is said to be first Android smartphone ever to come with lossless zoom, the camera app launches within 0.8 seconds and can record 4k videos.

The main camera which sits behind a six element lens is protected by a Sapphire glass and has Optical Image stabilisation, Dual Tone LED flash and super quick Phase detection Autofocus. The front camera is a 8MP

Below the rear camera, there is a fingerprint sensor which is useful for secure locking the device and for very rich audio quality; it has NXP Smart PA audio chip and stereo speakers with DTS support. Gionee has also partnered with WeBank to launch the Gionee Wallet.

Moving to the other specs, the Gionee Elife E8 features a 6-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and the body is made from Aluminium magnesium alloy. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with PowerVR G6200 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 64GB space of expandable internal storage.

Connectivity options on the device includes – microSD card slot, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, USB OTG and 4G LTE. The Gionee Elife E8 measures 164.0 × 82.3 × 9.6 mm in dimensions, weighs 207 grams, supports Dual SIM functionality, runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Amigo 3.1 UI ontop and is backed by a 3520mAh battery.

The Gionee Elife E8 would be available starting July 15th for CNY 3999 ($645) in China; India has been confirmed to get the device in August.
