Kodak IM5 smartphones goes on sale in the Netherlands for €280

Remember the first Kodak Smartphone – the Kodak IM5, it has finally hit the market after almost Six months it went official at the CES 2015. The mid-range smartphone is available in the Netherlands for €280 off-contract, this is a tad higher than the €229 it was supposed to go on sale for. The smartphone is also available via any of the country’s three mobile carriers.

The specs doesn’t do much justice to the price tag; the Kodak IM5 smartphone features a 5-inch HD display, has 1GB of RAM, 8GB space of internal storage and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 32GB).

While you might translate the word Kodak on the IM5 to mean a camera centric device, you will however be disappointed as that is not the case. It has a rear 13MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera.

The device makes taking, making, sharing and printing pictures easier. The Kodak IM5 smartphone supports Dual SIM functionality, weighs 140 grams, no word on LTE support which is sure not to be present and it is backed by a 2100mAh battery.

Disappointedly, the smartphone still runs Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with promised upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop that is not forthcoming yet. There is Google Play store installed on the device and there is another appstore pre-installed as well.

You should know that the Kodak IM5 was developed in collaboration with British smartphone maker, Bullitt Mobile (Bullitt Group), the company behind the rugged and tough smartphones developed by CAT.
