Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab E tablet. The 9.6-inch tablet has gone in sale in Taiwan for $TWD 6990 (equivalent to $226 or €200) in Scripture White colour option from local carrier, Taiwan Mobile.

The tablet surfaced online some days ago via a leaked Taiwan mobile magazine; hopefully the South Korean company could make the tablet available outside of Taiwan. Moving to the specs, the Samsung Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560) features a 9.6-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) WXGA LCD display, measures 8.5mm thin and weighs 490 grams.

Under the hood, it is powered by quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz (possibly the Spreadtrum SC7730SE) paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB). On the rear, there is a 5MP camera and on the front lies a 2MP camera.

Connectivity options on the tablet includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS+GLONASS, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. We would have loved the tablet running Android Lollipop OS, however it runs Android 4.4.x Kitkat OS and comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office apps. The tablet is backed by a non-removable 5000mAh battery which is expected to last some hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab E could arrive in two versions; the SM-T560 which is the version above supports Wi-Fi only while the other version has the model number – SM-T561.
