ZUK is not an entirely new company, it is more of a sub-brand of Lenovo which has partnered with Chinese software company 360 also known as Qihoo. The company already announced plan to launch the ZUK Z1 smartphone as its first later this year.
ZUK which is led by by former Lenovo VP, Chang Cheng is prepared to fight the niche in the already established market with smartphone coming from the company with a combination of hardware, software and mobile services of some sort.

The ZUK Z1 smartphone is expected to come with a custom OS – ZUI with several functions in China while the smartphone will ship Cyanogen OS (CyanogenMod) abroad. The Z1 smartphone is expected to have a large screen, high battery capacity, Dual SIM slots with Dual Standby and would also integrate a fingerprint sensor.
Like I said earlier, in order to market the smartphone outside China, particularly in the West – it would run CyanogenMod OS to give it more appeal to larger market since the ZUI it expected for its smartphone in China is relatively new.
We will be hoping ZUK and Cyanogen has a smooth relationship; considering the relationship between OnePlus and the company, which used the same strategy didn’t end well.
