Intel has joined the league of Remote Keyboard and Trackpad apps offerings by announcing the Intel Remote Keyboard. Once the enabling software is installed on the PC, the app helps Android smartphones and tablets connect with device when they are connected to the same home network.
The Intel Remote Keyboard app is said to be particularly created for the Intel Next Unit of Computing (NUC) and Compute Sticks devices. You should know that Intel’s NUC is a relatively small thumb-sized flash drive which has no Monitor or a Key board. Likewise, the Intel Compute Stick is also a smaller PC form.
The app doesn’t only work with the above devices, it also works with any device running Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS; it can also be used in Landscape and Portraits modes, has a QWERTY keyboard, features a scroll bar that eases navigation on the screen – one finger tap is the left click, double finger tap is the right click and a finger slide to scroll up and down.
Like I said earlier, the app doesn’t work alone, you need to download the accompanying software and install on your PC. Once this is done, then you need to activate the app on the smartphone using a QR Code.
After all the connections, you only need to make sure both the app and the PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. It is finally ready to start performing its functions.
There are also other Remote Keyboard offerings available includes – the Unified Remote and the Goldworm Remote. But it seems Intel is going to have an edge over them because since the app launched users have given it much kudos than knocks.
