Metal-Clad Huawei Honor 7 announced with 20MP PDAF camera and octa-core Kirin 935 SoC

Huawei has finally announced the Huawei Honor 7 smartphone today at an official press event. The device has an alloy metal body build and is available in three versions with some difference between them.

As mentioned, there are three version of the Huawei Honor 7 smartphone with the different coming in the number of SIM slots and connectivity option. The Basic model with 16GB internal storage has LTE connectivity, the second model has Dual SIM slots and LTE connectivity while the premium version of the trio has LTE connectivity and 64GB space of internal storage. 

One other major attraction to the Huawei Honor 7 is the camera; it sports a rear-facing 20MP Phase Detection AutoFocus camera with the latest Sony Sensor, F/2.0 Aperture, 6-lens module and Sapphire Glass protection. The front camera is a 8MP snapper with wide angle lens. There is a touch fingerprint sensor below the rear camera which allows unlocking the phone with just one touch or tap.

The rest of the Huawei Honor 7 specs are pretty much the same – it sports a 5.2-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) Full HD display resulting in a pixel density of 423ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Kirin 935 processor ( 4 Cortex A53 @ 2.2GHz + 4 Cortex A53 @ 1.5GHz) with Mali T628 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 16-64GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. 

Connectivity options on the smartphone includes – Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS, micro USB v2.0 and support for 2G/3G/4G LTE networks. The Honor 7 measures 143.2 x 71.9 x 8.5mm in dimensions, weighs 157 grams and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with EMUI 3.1 ontop. 

The device is backed by a 3100mAh battery which has fast charging features; for instance you can charge the phone half full (50%) in 30 minutes and you can go from 0 to 100% within 1 hour 25 minutes. The Base Huawei Honor 7 16GB model costs $322, the Dual SIM LTE model costs $355 and the premium version with 64GB costs $400.

Extra: Huawei also announced the Huawei Honor Bracelet Zero a fitness focused smartband which would also bring smartwatch notifications. The device would be officially unveiled and available in August when the full specs along with the pricing would be detailed.
