Mozilla hopes to bring the experience of the Firefox OS to more users despite not gaining too much attraction in the market; the company has announced plans that Firefox OS apps can now run on Android OS powered smartphones alongside other Android apps.

You should know that the Firefox OS (B2G or Boot2Gecko) is a mobile operating system based on Mozilla’s Gecko technology and Linux built on web standards HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. This means Firefox OS are similar to Chrome App on desktop, rather than being built on traditional programming languages; Firefox OS apps are built with APIs and Open Web Technologies.

Provided that you have the latest Firefox for Android, apps from Firefox can be managed like any other applications. Steps to go about running Firefox apps on Android smartphones and tablets.

• Download and install the latest Firefox Browser for Android on your device and Launch it.
• Once the app has launched, fill the required informations prompted on launching and proceed with the setup.
• Once the setup has been completed, navigate to the bookmark tab and locate default bookmark tab and click on Firefox OS marketplace. 
• The browser then navigates to the Firefox OS app store, then you can search for your favourite apps by manually scrolling through categoried or searching via keywords. Once you get to see any app of like, select the button next to it to begin installing.
• Installing Firefox apps is almost similar to installing Android apps; it also asks for permission for running the app. If all agreements are ticked, installation can continue. For Android users, enabling application installation from unknown sources enables this process to run smoothly.
• Apps installed from Firefox OS Marketplace appear as native apps in the app launcher, they have their own icon in the launcher & menu, reflects on the recent apps list, and can be removed using normal app removal methods.

Mozilla is encouraging developers to create open web apps that will not only run on Firefox OS but will also be packages as an APK files making it instalable on Android phones or tablets.
