LTE enabled UMI Iron with 3GB RAM, Iris Scanner, heart rate sensor and Selfie flash

Chinese brand, UMI has announced the all-metal UMI Iron; the phablet sized device comes with high end specs for an affordable price. The device is available in Gray and Silver colour options; various international retailers are offering the device for $177.

The UMI Iron is a full metal-clad smartphone which measures 7.9mm thin and as the name suggests everything about the device is made of metal including the physical volume rockers on the sides. Moving to the specs, it sports a 5.5-inch LTPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) and a pixel density of 441 ppi. 

Under the hood, the UMI Iron is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 64-bit processor (8 x Cortex-A53 cores) clocked at 1.5GHz paired with Mali-T720 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

On the rear, the main camera is a 13MP Sony IMX214 snapper with two color LED flash for more natural images in low light condition and a front facing 8MP f/2.2 camera with OmniVision OV8858 sensor for selfies. The front camera also has a LED flash (Selfie Flash) and an Iris Scanner is incorporated which allows you unlock the smartphone by just looking at it.

The UMI Iron has Dual SIM slots, Hotknot, Bluetooth, 4G LTE (LTE Cat.4, Wi-Fi, GPS, comes with UV and heart rate sensors with their dedicated health app suite, a large LED customisable strip at the bottom which shows notifications and missed calls. The smartphone is backed by a 3350mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS but those interested in custom ROMs are encouraged also flash them on.
