Samsung Z3: Samsung Z1 Successor would have a quad-core SoC, 8MP camera and 5″ Super AMOLED display

Samsung is expected to release the Samsung Z1 Successor – the Samsung Z3 sometime this year. The Z3 is expected to be an improvement over the Z1 and would receive some bump in specs.

The Tizen OS based Samsung Z1 ended up seeing more success than critics predicted when it started selling earlier this year. The company ended up selling around 1 million units which is quite impressive for a new OS into the market.

As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Z3 (SM-Z300H) is expected to go well above the Samsung Z1 in terms of specs. It features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display compared to the 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA on the Z1.

Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Spreadtrum SC7730S processor clocked at 1.3GHz which is an improvement over the 1.2GHz dual-core processor used on the Z1. The chipset would be paired with 1.5GB of RAM which is more than the 768MB used on the Samsung Z1.

There would be 8GB of internal storage space onboard and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. On the rear, there is a 8MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP snapper for selfies. The device measures 141.5 x 70 x 9.5 mm in dimensions, weighs around 140 grams, comes with Dual SIM functionality and would be backed by a 2600mAh battery.

Samsung is targeting the low end market in emerging markets with its Tizen smartphones. The Z3 was spotted arriving in India on the Zauba.com for testing processes and partnering event which means it could end up being announced at the Indian Tizen Developer Summit going down at the end of July.

While there is no official information on pricing and availability, the company is expected to release the smartphone in India and other markets could get it at a later date.
