Blackberry Partners With Amazon AppStore To Bring More Apps To Blackberry OS 10 users

With the Blackberry OS 10.3 update coming to users this fall, Blackberry has also announced it is partnering Amazon to make the over 240,000 applications on Amazon Appstore to Blackberry 10 devices. The Amazon Appstore would come pre-installed with Blackberry’s own Appworld beside which will still serve as the official app store for the Canadian smartphone maker.

Blackberry is hoping to make its devices more appealing to consumers by making more content and applications available on Blackberry 10 devices. Users will have access to popular applications such as Candy crush saga, Minecraft, Groupon, Pinterest, Netflix

“Making the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 devices will help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises,” said BlackBerry Executive Chairman and CEO John Chen. “We’ve listened to our customers and have taken this important step to deliver on their needs, while executing on our strategy.”

Blackberry will also be closing the music and video section on the Blackberry appworld by July 21 but would still be providing services through 3rd party application; previously downloaded contents theough this section would be available through MyWorld.

Smartphones currently running on the Blackberry 10 OS includes Blackberry Q5, Blackberry Q10, Blackberry Z10, Blackberry Z3, Blackberry Z30 and the Blackberry P’9982 smartphone.
