Jolla has also partnered with Snapdeal which would see the company handle selling the device. Both Intex and Jolla would be creating an ecosystem for the Indian customers in collaboration with Times Internet and of course, Snapdeal.

This is expected to deliver suitable local content and thus lead to higher user satisfaction and better revenue system for local business owners.

Jolla’s Sailfish OS could be said to be one of the alternatives to Google’s Android OS along with Tizen OS which is owned by Samsung and the Firefox OS from Mozilla. Intex on its path is the second largest manufacturer of smartphones in India.

The first smartphone from the partnership between Jolla and Intex is the Intex Aqua Fish; the device is expected to arrive either by September or November.

It sports a 4.7-inch HD display, powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8GB space of internal storage, 4G LTE, 2300mah batter and of course run the Jolla Sailfish OS 2.0.

Some days ago, Jolla hinted it was separating its business in two – the company would be focusing on licensing and development of the Sailfish OS while another company would be set up to handle the Jolla’s device aspect.
