AT&T announces Asus ZenFone 2E GoPhone for $119.99 sans contract

AT&T has added a new GoPhone device – the Asus ZenFone 2E which is obviously made by Asus and is based on the lighter specced Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500C. The AT&T exclusive device is currently on sale from Walmart and Target retail outlets for $119 (without contract). AT&T stores and Best Buy will sell for the same price at later dates.

The Asus ZenFone 2E sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display (pixel density – 294ppi), powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor clocked at 1.6GHz paired with PowerVR SGX544 MP2 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64GB.

On the back, there is a 8MP f/2.0 PixelMaster camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera for selfies. The ZenFone 2E supports 4G LTE connectivy and also Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n options. It isn’t that much of a lightweight smartphone at 155 grams and measures 148 x 71.4 x 10.9mm in dimensions which shows it bulkiness.

The Asus Zenfone 2E runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with ZenUI and is expected to last around 19 hours of talk time and nearly 8 days of standby time which is said to be provided by a non removable 2500mAh battery. Charcoal Black and Pearl White are the available colour options.
