Midrange LG Max with Android 5.1.1 OS debuts in India priced at $172

LG has officially announced the LG Max midrange smartphone in India. The 5-inch sized device is the successor to the LG L Bello; it costs Rs 10,990 ($172) and would be sold in Gold, Titan and White colour options. The Dual SIM, not the Single SIM variant of the device is available in India.

The LG Max is the same device (+ specs) as the LG Bello II which was released for some regions. Along with India, Russia, Mexico and some other commonwealth nations would also get the LG Max while it would launch as the LG Prime II in Brazil and Chile.

Commenting at the Launch event, Marketing head, LG Mobiles India, Amit Gujral said,

“Most of the people who use Internet on smartphones use 3G services as 4G is still at a nascent stage in our country. Keeping this in mind, LG has launched LG Max as we are sure that this smartphone will offer unprecedented value to 3G consumers. This smartphone offers great balance of form, function and price and we expect it to be even more successful than its predecessor.”

Going over the specs again, the LG Max sports a 5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) FWVGA resolution display (196ppi), powered by a quad-core cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 1GB of RAM and there is 8GB space of internal storage onboard with the option to expand via a microSD card slot.

The Max uses a 8MP/5MP camera combination on the rear and front; with the rear camera having a LED flash. The camera also has features like Selfie Flash and Gesture shot. Connectivity options on the device includes – 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB 2.0.

It measures 140.8 x 71.6 x 9.6mm in dimensions, weighs 155 grams, runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2540mAh battery. The LG Max has a lot of work to cut out considering it’s pricing pitch it against the Lenovo K3 Note and the YU Yureka.
