Huawei Honor 6 Officially Announced With Octa-Core Chipset – Specs, Features and Pricing Details

Its no longer news that Huawei was looking to launch a new smartphone that would run on Kirin 920 octa-core processor made of four A15 cores & 4 A7 cores, a processor claimed to be better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Soc by some measure. The chinese companyhas officially announced the Huawei Honor 6 (which is also known as the Huawei Glory 6).

The Huawei Honor 6 was launched and aimed at the high end smartphones such as the Apple iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5. The smartphone features a 5″ (1080 x 1920 pixels) IPS LCD capactive touchscreen display resulting in a pixel density of 441ppi. Under the hood of the Huawei Honor 6 is the recently announced Huawei’s owned Kirin 920 chipset with four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores, plus Mali-T624. The Kirin 920 also supports LTE Cat. 6 for up to 300Mbps downlink speeds (as fast as dual-channel Wi-Fi 802.11n).

The phone would also come in 16GB and 32GB storage variants expandable up to 128GB via micro SD card and 3GB of RAM. The Huawei Honor 6 features a 13MP camera with a Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and Dual-LED flash. The front-facing camera is a 5MP shooter with 1.4µm pixels, 88° FoV and f/2.4 aperture.

The Huawei Honor 6 measures 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm, weighs 135g, runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Emotion UI 2.3 on top. Connectivity options includes – GPRS/EDGE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS/AGPS with GLONASS, micro USB v2.0. There is no word however on the battery capacity.

Huawei couldn’t resist comparing its new flagship with the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S, in terms of power saving and the build. The Honor 6 is built on aluminium alloy structure that keeps the temperature cooler.

Pricing and Availability
As expected with every Chinese smartphone makers, the device would make its debut in China as from July 1 and has been priced at 1999 Yuan ($321 / ₦52,000) for the 16GB variant and 2999 Yuan ($369 / ₦78,000) or the 32GB variant. However there is no word on official availability.
