The dust is already settling on the Windows 10 OS Launch and some people, if not most people already have their upgrades by now. As promised, Microsoft rolled out the Windows 10 OS free upgrade on July 29th in 180 countries to eligible Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.
The Windows 10 OS is a blend of the best features of Windows 7 and Windows 8 (and 8.1) with some additions. New features like Integrated cortana, Task View, Microsoft Edge Browser, Action Centre, Windows Hello, Integrated Xbox app, Companion phone App, Return of the Start Menu, Microsoft’s new music app – Groove and Movies and TV.
By making it available on all Microsoft devices including PCs, tablets, smartphones, Holographic Hololens and the XBox game console, the company is pushing the new OS as a universal platform and there is a unified Windows Store for all. The company hopes to reach about 10 Billion downloads in
On launch, Members of the Windows Insider Program were the first to receive the upgrade. Those who pre-registered would get the update next and would be notified when the Windows 10 update arrives – it could take days, weeks and probably months but you will get it.
If you haven’t reserved a spot, the and do so but if you are impatient like some of us are, you can force the Windows 10 Download with the trick below;
• Run Windows Update, and make sure you are set to receive updates automatically.
• Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete everything inside.
• Run a command prompt in administrator mode and type wuauclt.exe/updatenow
Minimum PC System Requirements to Upgrade to Windows 10
• Processor: 1GHz or faster processor
• RAM: 1GB for 32-bit/2GB for 64-bit
• Hard disk space: 16GB for 32-bit OS/20GB for 64-bit OS
• Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
• Display: 1024 × 600 pixels or better
At the moment, Windows 7 has about 67.1% market share, Windows 8 accounts for 3% and Windows 8.1 has 13%. The no longer support Windows XP is still very much on the list with about 12%.
