Qualcomm has refreshed its entry-level and lower midrange processor category with the addition of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 412.
Both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 and Snapdragon 212 processors are upgrades to the Snapdragon 410 and Snapdragon 210; they both feature increased speed support, higher frequency CPU, improved GPU performance and improved experience.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 is a 32-bit quad-core cortex A7 processor with integrated X5-LTE Global Mode modem and has Adreno 304 GPU for graphics. It is built on an 28nm process, supports 720p displays, native HEVC playback and Full HD video capture and playback.
The Snapdragon 212 chipset is mainly for entry-level smartphones and tablets. It also supports Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 technology for faster charging, LPDDR2/LPDDR3 RAM, NFC connectivity support and supports up to 8MP cameras.
Moving to the other, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 is powerful than the Snapdragon 212; it is 64-bit capable and has four Cortex A53 cores clocked up to 1.4GHz, Adreno 306 for graphics, integrated X5 LTE modem, up to 13MP cameras, Full HD Video capture and playback.
The Snapdragon 412 is also for entry-tier devices but some lower midrange devices can also take advantage. It supports both Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 and Quick Charge 2.0 technology,1920 x 1200 WUXGA display, LPDDR2/LPDDR3 RAM and is also built using the 28nm process.
Late last year, Entry-level smartphones began having access to LTE and Carrier aggregation thanks to the Qualcomm snapdragon 210 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processors.
