Huawei Honor 7i with 13MP flippable camera, side fingerprint scanner and Snapdragon 616 SoC

Huawei has officially announced the Huawei Honor 7i ( Huawei ATH-AL00) smartphone with the sliding (flippable) camera concept. The device is already available on pre-order and would be on shelves by September in China.

Much of the focus of the device is the flippable camera which is similar to the rotating camera of the Oppo N3. The 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with Dual Tone LED flash and Sony Sensor, turns to the front camera by flipping it and could shoot in various angles up to 180-degrees. 

The company assures that the camera would not wear out even when it is flipped 132 times in the next two years. Another unique feature of the Huawei Honor 7i is the fingerprint scanner placed on the side of the phone which also acts as the camera shutter. 

The Huawei Honor 7i is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor clocked at 1.7GHz with Adreno 405 GPU and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Emotion UI 3.1 ontop. It sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with a pixel density of 423ppi, impressive screen ratio of 79.8% and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. 

Along with the processor, the device is available in two RAM and internal storage variants – 2GB of RAM to go along with 16GB internal storage space and 3GB of RAM to go along with 32GB internal storage option. Connectivity options on the Honor 7i includes – Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and supports for 2G/3G/4G LTE networks.

The Huawei Honor 7i has a metals body build made from Aircraft Grade Aluminium (6061) with PET fiber glass back for protection against wear and a soft feel. It has Dual SIM slots and is backed by a 3100mAh battery.

The 2GB RAM/16GB ROM variant of the Honor 7i costs $250 (CNY 1599) and the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM costs $265 (CNY 1699); both models are available in Gold and White colour options.
