Oppo has launched the Oppo R5s which is an upgraded model of the Oppo R5 which was the thinnest and still one of the thinnest smartphone around at 4.85mm. The device listed on the company’s European website and priced equivalent to $226 USD in Grey colour option.
The Oppo R5s features the same 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) and a pixel density of 424ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The size of the RAM has increased to 3GB and there is a 32GB space of internal storage.
Due to the extra slim body, there is still no microSD card slot, no audio jack and the device is backed by the same 2000mAh battery which has VOOC fast charging technology. On the back, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and LED flash; the front camera is a 5MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
Connectivity options on the Oppo R5s includes – 4G LTE, micro USB, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi. It measures 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85mm in dimensions, weighs 155 grams and boots Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with the company’s ColorOS 2.O UI ontop.
