Nokia By Microsoft – Microsoft And Nokia Reportedly Working on an Android OS Powered Lumia Smartphone

Words on the blogosphere (Blog + Atmosphere) is suggesting Nokia and Microsoft are currently working on a Lumia device with a break from the norm – running on Android OS. While the brand Lumia has always been associated with Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, these smartphones will be called Nokia by Microsoft.

Popular and serial leakster, @evleaks posted this today and considering he has been spot on with some, if not many leaks.

Nokia however is not new to the Android OS, the former finnish company launched it first set of Android phones the Nokia X Line – Nokia X, X+, XL early this year which runs on a forked version of Google’s mobile Os, before Microsoft completed the takeover of its Mobile Arm. Nokia has also released a follow up to the Nokia X Line with the recently announced Nokia X2.

This would really come as a surprise as the Redmond Giant acquired Nokia’s mobile arm to step up the market share of the Windows Phone OS. However, if a Lumia device running on Android OS ever shows up, it would be a premium device with high-end specs running on its rival OS.

And its also possible Microsoft is finding more appeal for its other products as its Android Phones churn out its services such as the OneDrive, OneNote, Bing, Outlook, etc which rival’s Google’s equivalent. With the Windows Phone not taking off as expected, one won’t blame the company for trying its hands at other things.

PS: It was earlier revealed this week that all Nokia produced under this Microsoft regime would be tagged – Nokia By Microsoft and a new device – Nokia Lumia 830 this week has been spotted with the same inscription.
