Lenovo-owned Motorola has announced two new smartwatches – Moto 360 (2015) and the Moto 360 Sport.
Moto 360 (2015)
Motorola has announced the Moto 360 successor, the New Moto 360 as the company calls it or Moto 360 (2015) as we call it would be available by the end of September for a price range between $249 to $429.99 depending on the model of choice.
Motorola is offering the smartwatch in two size variants – a 42mm and 46mm. Running the latest Android Wear OS with support for iOS, the display still has the same ‘flat tire’ display which the company says is necessary to keep the bezels thin and obtain a better screen-to-body ratio than the Apple Watch.
The chipset powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage space. Also it sports a heart rate sensor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options.
The Moto 360 (2015) is customisable via the Moto Maker website and gives the option to choose different colours, band materials and colours, and others. It has wireless charging support and is backed by a 300mAh battery for the 42mm model while the 46mm has a 400mAh battery capacity.
Moto 360 Sport
The Moto 360 Sport is aimed more at the fitness lovers, it is available in a single size model, has an integrated GPS, heart rate sensor and a unibody silicone band with UV coating so that they withstand sweat, moisture and dust.
The Sport model has the same specs as the Moto 360 (2015) and has added features like the option to work the phone, store music offline so that you can listen to them when training, comes with a better display which is legible under sunlight.
There is no word on pricing for the Motorola Moto 360 Sport as well as the availability information. Speculation has it that it would debut later this year.
