Lava Pixel V2 debuts Star OS 2.0 and Quad-core MT6735 SoC

Lava has a new smartphone in town – the Lava Pixel V2, the device runs a customised version of Android Lollipop and would go on sale through online retailers for a price tag of  Rs 10750 ($161) September 15th. It will be available at first in Royal Sparkle Black and Icy White colours followed by a Prism Blue colour at a later date.

The Lava Pixel V2 is not a direct successor to the Lava Pixel V1 which is part of Google’s Android One smartphone line. It sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with Asahi DragonTrail glass protection and Oleophobic coating for prevention against stains. 

Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-T720 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB native storage space. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB and the device comes with Dual SIM slots as it is the norm.

On the back there is a 13MP f/2.0 camera with Dual LED Flash, 5P Largan lens and Blue Glass filter; there is a  front facing 8MP f/2.4 camera with LED flash and 84-degree wide angle lens for selfies. Connectivity options on the Lava Pixel V2 incudes – Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11n and 4G LTE/3G HSPA+ 

The Lava Pixel V2 supports TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz) and FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz) network bands in India; runs Star OS 2.0 which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2500mAh battery.
