Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra with Snapdragon 820 tipped for March 2016

When Sony announced the Xperia Z5 Premium, most of us thought the model has replaced the Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra but we could be wrong. The company is expected to launch the Z5 Ultra with Snapdragon 820 SoC around March next year.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra is tipped to sport a 6.44-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels (4K or UHD) and would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor which uses custom build Kyro cores and 4GB of RAM.

Just like the three Xperia Z5 devices, the Z5 Ultra is expected to have the same camera setup as the trio that is a front facing 5MP camera and a rear facing 23MP camera. It would be backed by a larger 4000mAh battery to cope with the display.

The company is expected to release the device by March 2015, there is every possibility the device could be launched at the MWC 2016 in Barcelona, Spain or the launch to be pushed after the spring event so as not to be overshadowed by the launch of offerings from other brands.

Sony holds the record for having the first smartphone with 4k display in the world with the Xperia Z5 but that could change as soon as the Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra debuts with a 4k display. The company could have the first two smartphones with a 4k display but at the moment it is still all rumours.
