YU Yunique with HD screen, Cyanogen OS 12.1 and 4G LTE launched for Rs 4999

YU Televentures, a Micromax backed company has announced the YU Yunique, an entry-level phone running Cyanogen OS available exclusively on Snapdeal for Rs 4999 ($75). Bundled with two extra back covers in Serene White and Moonstone Grey colours, the device sells for Rs 5999 ($91).

The YU Yunique is the phone behind the #FutureMeetsPast moniker which the company has been teasing for some weeks now. Registrations for sale closes at 8.00PM IST on September 14th and sales start at 12.00PM IST on September 15th. 

At the launch of the YU Yunique, Rahul Sharma, Founder, YU Televentures, said,

“India is at the tipping point of digital revolution and we expect 4G technology to push Internet. usage to an unprecedented level. Consumer demand is constantly shifting towards devices offering multi-tasking capabilities, 24×7 data connectivity with increased video consumption and real-time mobility solutions. However to boost adoption, 3 key things including price, product and reach are important. I feel that with Yunique being available at 4,999 through a partner like Snapdeal that has the farthest reach, we have a compelling preposition to delight the consumer.”

Moving to the specs, the device sports a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), a pixel density of 326ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, it is powered by aa 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU.

With 1GB of RAM on-board the YU Yunique goes about to handling operations as it can and there is 8GB space of internal storage which is expandable by a microSD card up to 32GB. On the rear lies a 8MP f/2.0 AF camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP f/2.4 camera with 83-degree wide angle lens. 

Connectivity options on the device includes – Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, microUSB v2.0, and 4G LTE/3G HSPA+. It is compatible with TDD Band 40 (2300MHz) and FDD Band 3 (1800MHz) LTE network bands in India.

The YU Yunique runs Cyanogen OS 12.1 which is based on stock Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2000mAh battery which is expected to provide 7 hours of talk time and 271 hours of standby time.
