Adidas Fit Smart Fitness SmartBand Announced

With recent reports that Nike is killing the Fuelband for the upcoming Apple iWatch, Adidas is announcing a wearable of its own – dubbed the Adidas Fit Smart. The Fit Smart works alongside the company’s miCoach fitness app to track user’s training, fitness, burned calories, heart rate and running.

Unlike most fitness bands, the Adidas Fit Smart does not have to be worn all day as it is only meant for workout alone. The Fit Smart is going to be available in Black & White colour variants; and has very distinct LED lights (Green, Yellow, Red and Blue colours) which indicates the intensity of the workout.

The Fit Smart sync wirelessly with miCoach Train and Run fitness apps which are both available on iOS and Android OS devices; the fitness band pair to these devices via Bluetooth. To charge the fitness band, it is attached to a magnetic charging cradle which is then connected to a computer’s USB port or other charging hub.

The Adidas Fit Smart is expected to be available in the US at Best Buy for a price tag of US$199 (approx NGN 33,000 in Naira) by late August. It would be available to the rest of the world on August 15 through Adidas.com and from September 1 through official Adidas Sports Performance stores.
