Faced with the decision of going for a full fledged laptop or a tablet? Why not just go for a 2-in-1 (hybrid) and you don’t mind if it is convertible? Asus has launched two new 2-in-1 tablet offerings – the Asus Transformer Book T100HA and Asus Transformer Book Flip TP200SA.
Asus Transformer Book T100HA
Starting with the Asus Transformer Book T100HA is a 10.1-inch tablet with a detachable keyboard dock. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels with a pixel density of 149ppi. The slate is powered by an Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor with burst speed up to 2.24GHz and runs Windows 10 Home or Pro.
Depending on user’s choice, the chipset can be paired with 2GB or 4G of RAM and any of 32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage options. For connectivity, there is a USB 3.1 Type-C, a full sized USB 2.0 port, a micro USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm Audio jack and a micro HDMI port.
Measuring about 8.4mm thick, the Asus Transformer Book T100HA weighs 580 grams and when the keyboard dock is attached, the weight goes up to around 1kg. Talking about the keyboard dock, it attaches to the tablet via neodimium magnets and has a trackpad.
Available in Aqua Blue, Rogue Pink, Sattire White or Tin Grey colour options, the Transformer Book T100HA is backed by a 30Whrs which is expected to provide up to 12 hours of usage and charges very quickly, it goes up to 80% in 2 hours.
Asus Transformer Book Flip TP200SA
The Asus Transformer Book Flip TP200SA is also hybrid but takes things further by being convertible. There is a 360-degree hinge allows tablet to be used as a tablet mode even when the keyboard is attached and with 27,000 turns the metal hinge has a life of up to two years (27 swings a day).
The tablet sports a 11.6-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) WXGA display and is powered by either a quad-core Intel Celeron ‘Braswell’ N3050 or quad-core Pentium N3700 processor. The chipset is paired with up to 4GB of RAM and an option of 32GB eMMC or 64GB eMMC or 128GB SDD internal storage options.
Measuring 297 x 201.3 x 18.45mm in dimensions and weighing 1.2kg; the Asus Transformer Book Flip TP200SA runs Windows 10 Home or Pro and is backed by a 38Whrs battery which last up to 8 hours. In terms of connectivity, there is a USB Type-C Port, a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port, micro HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n .
Pricing and Availability
The Asus Transformer Book T100HA is priced at $299 for the based model while the ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP200SA is priced starting at $399. Both tablets are already on pre-order but would be available later this month.
