16-inch Sharp Aquos Famiredo slate with Android Kitkat OS and TV Tuner Box announced for Japan

Large screen tablets seems to be tickling the fancy of most OEMS and more are joining the bandwagon. Sharp has announced a new tablet with 16-inch display – the Sharp Aquos Famiredo tablet. It will be available in Japan for 90,000 Yen 745) starting November 2015 in White and Black colour options.

While the Sharp Aquos Famiredo is being touted as a 16-inch slate, it actually has a 15.6-inch touch capacitive display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 (FWXGA) and is powered by a quad-core Rockchip RK3188 (Cortex-A9) processor clocked at 1.6GHz with Mali-400MP4 GPU and 1GB of RAM. 

The slate makes do with just 8GB space of nativie storage with a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB and a front facing 2MP camera. Connectivity options includes 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, microUSB v2.0 port and there is a separate TV Tuner Box for watching content.

The Sharp Aquos Famiredo measures 395 x 254 x 24mm in dimensions, weights 1900g (1.9kg), runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with access to Google Play Store and is backed by a battery which provides up to 5 hours of battery life. It is waterproof thanks to IPX5/7 certification and comes with a kickstand.
