Along with the HTC Butterfly 3, HTC announced an upgraded One M9+ with improvements to the camera. This model is called the HTC One M9+ Aurora Edition and would be available starting October 15th for around TWD 20,900 (USD 633 or EUR 563) in Taiwan. Gold and Ash are the available colour options.

The highlight of the HTC One M9+ Aurora Edition is the camera, a 21MP camera which is an upgrade over the previous Tohiba-made 20MP camera. The camera has Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) plus Laser Autofocus. This is the first phone from HTC which the camera uses OIS.

Aides the camera upgrade, nothing has changed in the aspect of specs and design. The device sports a 5.2-inch (2560 x 1440 pixel) QHD display with a pixel density of 565ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit Mediatek Helio X10 octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage space.

Running Android Lollipop OS with HTC Sense UI ontop, the HTC One M9+ Aurora Edition has a front facing 4MP Ultrapixel camera for selfies, two front facing boom round stereo speakers and a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home key. The device is backed by a 2840mAh battery.
