LG V10 goes official with 4GB RAM, secondary display screen and dual front cameras

LG has officially the LG V10, it is the first from the V series of devices from the company and is designed to provide a rich multimedia experience. The V10 stands out by having a secondary display above the main one, dual front facing cameras and manual mode for videos.

The LG V10 sports a main 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD IPS Quantum display with a pixel density of 513ppi, body frame made from SAE grade 316L stainless steel and resilient Dura Guard frame firmly secures the display to protect the phone from hard bumps and tumbles.

The V10 is MIL-STD-810G Transit Drop Compliant for shock and the front as well as the back of the device is resilient but soft Dura Skin offers added protection from direct impacts to the device. Not forgetting the secondary display, it sports a 2.1-inch (160 x 1040 pixels) IPS Quantum Display also with a pixel density of 513ppi.

The second display can be set to ‘always on’ without having an impact on the battery life. When the main display is off, it can be set to show info on Date, Weather, Time and Battery. When the display is on, it serves as a shortcut to quickly launch favourite apps and also serves notification purposes. 

Another area the LG V10 excels is the area of camera, it has a rear facing 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS 2.0) and f/1.8 aperture; it also has Dual front facing 5MP camera which achieves a standard 80-degrees angle and achieves wide 120-degrees angle when taking selfies.

Multi-View recording lets the device use all three cameras on the device at once to capture different angles. The V10 is the first smartphone to offer manual mode for video and with this mode it is possible to adjust options such as shutter speed, frame rate, ISO, white balance and focus while recording.

Videos can be recorded in either HD, FHD or UHD resolutions and either 16:9 standard or 21:9 cinematic aspect ratios. There are other features on offer such as Steady Record, Snap Video, 15 Sec. Auto Edit, Quick Share, Quick Video, Wind Noise Filter and Audio Monitor.

Under the hood, it is backed by an hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB space of internal storage. The LG V10 is equipped with a microSD card slot which supports up to 2TB cards, measures 8.6mm thick and weighs 192 grams.

The LG V10 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a removable 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 built-in, allowing it go from 0 – 50% in forty minutes. It now has a new fingerprint sensor which unlocks the phone and lights up the display; the sensor works with Android Pay. 

Connectivity options on the device includes – USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and 4G LTE-A (Cat.6). For quality audio, the V10 paacks 32 bit Hi-Fi DAC by ESS Technology and utilises the Qualcomm Technologies TruSignal antenna boost technology to reduce dropped calls and have better call coverage.

The LG V10 will be available in Korea starting this month (October) followed by the United States, China and Key markets in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. There is no word on pricing and Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue, Opal Blue and Space Black are available colour options. 

Commenting on the launch, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, Juno Cho said;

“The LG V10 was designed from the ground up primarily as a multimedia smartphone for the sharing ecosystem. We heard from many customers that until the G4, they weren’t comfortable going on vacation or outings without a separate. camera. With the V10, we hope to do for video what the G4 did for photographs.”
