Samsung Galaxy Active Neo goes official in Japan for a price under $200

Samsung has announced a new midrange smartphone under the Active brand of device for Japan. Known as the Samsung Galaxy Active Neo, it will be available exclusively in Japan for  20,000 Japanese Yen ($167) starting November and would be sold by NTT Docomo.

Like other devices from the Active brand, the Samsung Galaxy Active Neo is a rugged phone and shares the same design with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active as well as the Camo Black and Solid Black colour options. It can withstand falls on concrete to heights up to 1.5metres, carry around 2 tons of loads and is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. 

The device also come with Military grade MIL STD 810G certification to survive harsh weather conditions such as Solar Radiation, Salt and Sea water, Dust, Rain, Vibration, Humidity and thermal Shock Resistance.

Moving to the specs, it sports a 4.5-inch WVGA display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU for graphics, 2GB of RAM to handle operations and 16GB expandable native storage space.

Running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, the Samsung Galaxy Active Neo has a front facing 2MP camera, 8MP rear facing camera with LED flash, supports 4G LTE connectivity as well as Bluetooth v4.1, NFC, Wi-Fi options and is backed by a 2200mAh battery. 

According to reports, Samsung is expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy Active Neo in other markets around the world but at the moment there is no information on the exact markets. Devices like this rarely make their way to Africa so it is already ruled out.
