Sharp, Softbank and Y! Mobile have jointly announced two new phones – the Sharp Aquos xx2 and Sharp Aquos xx2 Mini in Japan. Both devices will be carried by Softbank; the former will arrive in November while the latter by Mid-January 2016. No word on pricing yet.
Sharp Aquos xx2
The Sharp Aquos xx2 sports a 5.3-inch IGZO TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) with a pixel density of 416ppi. It is powered by a Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 418 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB native storage space.
On the back lies the main 13.1MP f/1.9 camera with LED flash, a front facing 8MP camera for selfies, a fingerprint scanner below the main camera and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 200GB. The Sharp Aquos xx2 measures 138 x 73 x 7.9mm in dimensions, weighs 150g and is available in three colour options – Black, Violet and White.
Connectivity options available includes – NFC, FeliCa, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and 4G LTE. The Sharp Aquos xx2 is dust protected (IP6X) and waterproof (IPX5/IPX8), runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, Single Nano SIM slot and is backed by a 3100mAh battery.
Sharp Aquos xx2 Mini
The Sharp Aquos xx2 Mini is more or less a not-so mini variant of the Aquos xx2 above. It however has a 4.7-inch display with the same resolution, 16GB internal storage, front facing 5MP camera and backed by a 2810mAh battery. It measures 126 x 66 x 8.9mm in dimensions and weighs 121 grams.
The Aquos xx2 Mini shares the remaining specs with the Sharp Aquos xx2 but comes in five different colour options – Black, Blue, Pink, Red and White.
