Huawei has teased an upcoming smartphone for an event on October 27th; the company is expected to officially announce the Huawei Honor 5X and has been teasing the product with the ‘One More Thing’ moniker. The device has also been certified on TENAA.
Having the same edge-to-edge display like the Huawei P8, the Huawei Honor 5X is expected to sport a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor and is expected at least run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with Emotion UI ontop.
Although, we are not ruling out the company going for Android Marshmallow but that is less likely. Judging by the way Huawei do things these days, the device will come in two memory models; the 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM models will go along with 16GB of internal expandable storage for both.
The device has a 5MP front facing camera for selfies and a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash. The Huawei Honor 5X will have a full metal body build and the fingerprint scanner can be found on the back just below the main camera. The 2GB RAM model is expected to sell for CNY 999 ($157) and the 3GB RAM version for CNY 1199 ($188).
Huawei Becomes Biggest Smartphone Vendor in China
In another news, Huawei has finally caught up with Xiaomi and surpassed them for the first time in History; the company is now the biggest smartphone vendor in China judging from the latest report by research firm, Canalys.
Still on the report, Huawei saw a 81% year-on-year shipment growth in the third quarter, while Xiaomi’s shipments shrank year-on-year as it struggled to sustain high growth and is under massive pressure to hit the 80 million smartphone sales target.
